Haines Road (Yukon to Alaska) - Page 2

Getting up high in altitude, the road is approaching the Chilkat Pass.

Haines Road Summit, elevation 1065m (about 3200 feet).

These mountains are called the "Three Guardsmen".

Three Guardsmen Pass.

The valley descending to Haines and sea level can be seen in the distance (it's below the ice-capped mountains).

Quite a drop to sea level: over 3000 feet.

Starting the descent to Haines.

Note that we are above the snow and ice fields of the coastal mountains.
